We are proud to announce details of our new production Retail Therapy! After several months of devising we can now let you know that our new (and first comedy revue) show will open in the spring of 2016!
And if that sounds like an advert it’s because we’ve been exploring the connection between sales and sanity and the link between craziness and consumerism. Retail Therapy is a sharp and satirical show which puts the ‘funny’ in ‘Funny Business’ through a whole series of entertaining short sketches, songs and monologues.
From the secret lives of shelf stackers to the high cost of living this show turns everything on its head. Whilst designer babies and alternative husbands can be bought on Black Friday we also encounter the real testimonies of what happens when Mental Health care is also put up for sale. Does everything, including psychiatric hospitals, really have to go…?
Our devising is now almost done and the script is due to be finished in time for the end of the January sales. We will of course keep you posted when tickets to our first performance finally go on sale.
We are also extremely grateful to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation who have awarded us a small community grant, not only to make this show possible but also to create 3 short films based on the production which we will release online for free.
So do follow us, here at the blog, as we shape our script and move into rehearsal and we hope that you will spend, spend, spend (or buy one ticket at least!) and watch our latest comic creation.
It really is a bargain…
